  • Description :

Dezhou Zhengyu Geotechnical Materials Co., Ltd. composite geomembrane is a geotechnical anti-seepage material composed of plastic film as the anti-seepage substrate and non-woven fabric. Its anti-seepage performance mainly depends on the anti-seepage performance of the plastic film. At present, the plastic films used for anti-seepage applications mainly include polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE), which are high molecular weight chemical flexible materials with low specific gravity, strong extensibility, high adaptability to deformation, corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance, and good frost resistance. The thickness of the membrane is generally 0.30-2.00mm. The main mechanism is to use the impermeability of plastic film to block the leakage channel of the earth dam, and to withstand water pressure and adapt to dam deformation with its high tensile strength and elongation. Non woven fabric is also a type of polymer fiber chemical material, which is formed by needle punching or thermal bonding, and has high tensile strength and extensibility. At present, the non-woven fabrics mainly used in composite include: polyester short fiber needle punched geotextile, polyester long fiber spun clay geotextile, flat fiber plastic woven fabric, etc. After being combined with plastic film, it not only increases the tensile strength and puncture resistance of the plastic film, but also increases the friction coefficient of the contact surface due to the rough surface of the non-woven fabric, which is beneficial for the stability of the composite geomembrane and protective layer. At the same time, they have good corrosion resistance to bacteria and chemical reactions, and are not afraid of acid, alkali, or salt erosion.

      Specification for Composite Geomembrane:

One cloth, one film base cloth: 100-1000g/㎡ Film thickness: 0.1-1.5mm

One cloth, two film base cloth: 100-1000g/㎡ Film thickness: 0.1-0.8mm

Two fabrics and one film base fabric: 80-600 g/㎡ Film thickness: 0.2-1.5 mm

Multi cloth and multi film base fabric: 100-1000g/㎡ Film thickness: 0.1-0.8mm

      Performance characteristics of composite geomembrane:

Good flexibility, in addition to the anti-aging, high strength, good flexibility, and isolation properties of geotextiles, it also has a sealing (anti-seepage) function.

Application and Function of Composite Geomembrane:

Widely used in many fields such as water conservancy, dams, tunnels, road construction, airports, etc., it mainly plays a role in waterproofing, anti-seepage, protection, reinforcement, leakage prevention, isolation, etc. in engineering.

Precautions for Construction of Composite Geomembrane:

      1. The use should be buried, and the covering thickness should not be less than 30cm

      2. The entire anti-seepage system is composed of a cushion layer, anti-seepage layer, transition layer, and protective layer.

      3. The soil should be solid, avoiding uneven settlement, cracks, and removing grass and tree roots within the anti-seepage range. Lay a protective layer of sand or clay with small particle size on the contact surface with the membrane.

      4. When laying, do not pull the geomembrane too tightly. It is better to embed the soil at both ends in a corrugated shape, especially when anchoring with rigid materials, leaving a certain amount of expansion and contraction.

      5. During construction, stones and heavy objects should be avoided from directly hitting the geomembrane. The construction should be carried out while laying the membrane and covering the protective layer.

Composite geomembranes are widely used in channel anti-seepage engineering. The extensive application and effectiveness of geosynthetic materials in civil engineering, especially in flood control and emergency engineering, have attracted high attention from engineering and technical personnel. For the application technology of geosynthetics, the country has put forward standardized technical requirements from aspects such as anti-seepage, filtration, drainage, reinforcement, and protection, greatly accelerating the promotion and application of new materials. This material has been widely used in the anti-seepage engineering of irrigation channels. Based on construction practice, this article briefly discusses the application technology of composite geomembranes. Composite geosynthetic membrane is an impermeable material composed of geotextile and geosynthetic membrane. It is mainly used for anti-seepage. Composite geosynthetic membrane is divided into one fabric and one membrane and two fabrics and one membrane, with a width of 4-6m and a weight of 200-1500g/m2. It has high physical and mechanical performance indicators such as tensile strength, tear resistance, and bursting resistance, and can meet the needs of civil engineering such as water conservancy, municipal engineering, construction, transportation, subway, tunnel, etc. Due to the use of polymer materials and the addition of anti-aging agents in the production process, it can be used in unconventional temperature environments. Precautions for construction of composite geomembrane:

      1. Composite geomembrane is formed by heating one or both sides of a thin film with far-infrared radiation in an oven, and pressing the geotextile and geomembrane together through a guide roller. With the improvement of production technology, there is also a casting method for making composite geomembranes. Its forms include one cloth and one film, two cloths and one film, two films and one cloth, etc. SN2400g short fiber needle punched non-woven composite geotextile, 400g waterproof geotextile with two fabrics and one film

      2. Geotextile serves as a protective layer for geomembrane, preventing damage to the anti-seepage layer. In order to reduce the ultraviolet radiation and increase the anti-aging performance, the embedding method is adopted.

During construction, the first step is to use sand or clay with smaller diameters to level the base surface, and then lay the geomembrane. Do not tighten the geomembrane too tightly. The two ends should be buried in the soil in a corrugated shape, and then a transition layer of about 10cm should be laid on the geomembrane with fine sand or clay. Build 20-30cm stone blocks (or precast concrete blocks) as a protective layer against erosion. During construction, efforts should be made to avoid stones directly hitting the geomembrane, and protective layer construction should be carried out while laying the membrane. The connection between composite geomembrane and surrounding structures should be anchored with expansion bolts and steel plate pressure strips. The connection area should be coated with emulsified asphalt (2mm thick) for bonding to prevent leakage.
