Quality Inspection Method for HDPE Geomembrane Hot Melt Double Track Welding
There are two types of welding quality testing for HDPE geomembranes: non-destructive testing (leak testing) and destructive testing. The double weld formed by hot melt welding is inspected using the inflation method, while the single weld formed by extrusion welding is inspected using the electric discharge method.
1. Inflatable method testing
Seal both ends of the HDPE geomembrane weld cavity that needs to be tested. After connecting the testing equipment, insert the measuring needle into one end of the cavity. Start the air pump, input high-pressure gas to reach 0.15~0.2MPa, and stop pressurization. Within 1-5 minutes, there was no significant decrease in pressure. 2. Spark detection method

3. Destructive testing

The strength inspection is conducted at a frequency of testing every 1000 meters of weld seams (with at least five samples per group), designated by the owner or supervisor or randomly sampled for testing. Generally, it is selected to be conducted at locations where overheating, contamination, weld deviation, or insufficient welding are suspected.
