      There is a smell all around us. In our daily life, we are surrounded by "smells" such as the smell of food, the odor of factory exhaust gas, and the fragrance of flowers and perfume. Moreover, the 'scent' generally does not stay in one place, but rather drifts away with the flow of air.

      It is generally easy for humans to smell (a type of) odor, but in reality, this odor is formed by a mixture of various substances. Odorous substances mix with each other to form different "smells", some further enhance, some cancel each other out, and are almost imperceptible.

      The XP-329 III, which is fully functional and easy to use, can capture the constantly changing "odor" at ppb levels (one billionth), and can display subtle changes that are difficult for humans to perceive with digital numbers ranging from "0000" to "20000" and odor indices [equivalent values].

      The definition of odor index in odor prevention law is "a value obtained by multiplying the dilution factor by 10 when using odorless air to dilute until no odor is felt". Specifically, the three-point comparative odor bag method is used, which is called the panel test subject sniffing three pre prepared bags, selecting one bag containing odor, and slowly diluting it with odorless air until the bag containing odor cannot be smelled. The dilution factor represents the concentration of odor.

      The dilution ratio is called odor concentration. Take the logarithm of the odor concentration and multiply it by 10 to obtain the odor index. The conversion formula is,

      Odor index=10 × 10g odor concentration.

      The INDEX of this device displays the odor index value equivalent to the odor measurement method.
