Welding isliquid oxygen storage tankAs an important manufacturing process, welding quality is also an important factor affecting product quality. The main factors affecting welding quality include welders, welding equipment, base materials, welding materials, and welding processes, among which the selection of welding materials is particularly important.
At the standard level, Table 1 of NB/T47015 "Welding Code for Liquid Oxygen Storage Tanks" lists the recommended welding materials for commonly used steel grades, including submerged arc welding wire and flux, welding rod, secondary protection welding wire, and argon arc welding wire. This table solves most of the difficulties we encountered when we first started welding liquid oxygen storage tanks. However, when we encounter some tricky situations, such as running out of commonly used welding materials due to some reasons and unable to purchase them in time, or when the materials used cannot be found in Table 1, how should we choose welding materials?
The selection of welding materials for liquid oxygen storage tanks generally follows the following principles:

1. The welding materials for carbon steel and low-alloy steel should be selected to ensure that the mechanical properties of the weld metal are higher than or equal to the base metal on both sides of the welding joint;
2. When welding stainless steel materials, welding materials that ensure the mechanical strength of the weld metal is higher than or equal to the base metal on both sides of the welding joint should be selected. However, attention should be paid to their chemical composition, which should be the same or similar to the base metal, especially in working conditions with corrosion resistance requirements. The chemical composition requirements should be emphasized to ensure the corrosion resistance of the weld metal;
3. Select according to the requirements of the design drawings.
The selection of welding materials for liquid oxygen storage tanks requires a high level of mastery of material knowledge.
