Determine the upper limit of strain for strain strengthened low-temperature pressure vessels made of domestically produced S30408 austenitic stainless steel material based on pre strain tensile tests, and establish ASME and bilinear stress-strain curves for domestically produced austenitic stainless steel materials.
After comparing the two, based on the ASME stress-strain curve and considering the influence of tensile strength, the allowable stress and corresponding strain for manufacturing strain strengthened low-temperature pressure vessels using domestically produced S30408 austenitic stainless steel material were determined.

With the widespread application of low-temperature liquefied gases such as liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, and liquefied natural gas, the demand for austenitic stainless steel low-temperature pressure vessels continues to grow, and the consumption of austenitic stainless steel materials is also increasing.
The yield strength ratio of austenitic stainless steel is low. When designed according to standards such as GB 150-2010 (Steel Low Temperature Pressure Vessels), its allowable stress is determined by the yield strength, resulting in a low allowable stress value for austenitic stainless steel materials, which cannot fully utilize the material's load-bearing capacity, leading to material waste and equipment weight gain.
However, by utilizing the excellent plasticity properties of austenitic stainless steel and adopting strain strengthening technology, the yield strength of austenitic stainless steel can be significantly improved. Based on the newly strengthened higher yield strength as the design basis, compared with conventional design, the design wall thickness of the container can be significantly reduced, materials can be saved, and production costs can be lowered.
After strain strengthening treatment, the safety of the container did not decrease. According to the analysis of the strength margin of the container, it can still have a strength reserve of 2.5 to 4 times after strengthening.
