The two major effects of high-frequency current in high-frequency welding are:
Skin effect - a physical phenomenon in which the current distribution on the cross-section of a conductor is uneven when an alternating current is applied, and the current density gradually increases from the center to the surface of the conductor, with most of the current flowing only along the surface of the conductor. The lower the resistivity, the greater the permeability, and the higher the frequency of the current of a conductor, the more significant its skin effect.



Proximity effect - a special physical phenomenon in which high-frequency currents flow in opposite directions between two conductors or in a reciprocating conductor, causing the current to concentrate on the adjacent side of the conductor.
The current frequency range commonly used in high-frequency welding is 300-450kHz, and sometimes frequencies as low as 10kHz are also used
