    Lubrication methods for gasoline engines

      Gasoline engine oil and fuel premixed

      After mixing lubricating oil with gasoline in a certain proportion, it enters the crankcase and cylinder through the carburetor. During the intake stroke, there is a certain degree of vacuum and some gasoline evaporates from the mixture on the hot surface of the components. The lubricating oil remains in the bearings and cylinder liners to lubricate the moving parts. A small amount of used oil is discharged, and most of it burns together with gasoline. The advantage of this method is that there is no lubrication mechanism, which simplifies the engine structure. The disadvantage is that the consumption of lubricating oil is high, and there is less oil intake during idle. The lubrication is not sufficient, and the combustion of lubricating oil will also deteriorate the exhaust quality.

      High thermal load

      Gasoline engines have high power and high speed (above 5000r/min), and are mostly air-cooled. Therefore, the thermal load is much higher than that of corresponding four stroke gasoline engines, and the surface temperature of the piston is very high. Lubricating oil is prone to form carbonaceous deposits at high temperatures. Causing ring sticking and cylinder pulling, therefore requiring lubricating oil to have excellent high-temperature cleanliness.

      High mechanical load

      Similar to the situation of thermal load, the mechanical load of gasoline engines is also significantly higher than that of corresponding four stroke gasoline engines. The cooling around the cylinder is uneven, with good cooling in the windward direction and poor cooling in the leeward direction during driving. Uneven thermal expansion and contraction cause cylinder deformation, making it easy to scratch and wear. Therefore, lubricating oil should have high oil film strength and extreme pressure performance.
