Air compressor oil requires high-quality base oil

Performance requirements for air compressor oil
1. High quality base oil is required
The base oil of compressor oil can be divided into two categories: mineral oil type and synthetic oil type. The production of mineral oil compressor oil generally involves processes such as solvent refining, solvent dewaxing, hydrogenation, or clay supplementation refining to obtain base oil, which is then blended with various additives.
The base oil of compressor oil generally accounts for more than 95% of the finished oil, so the quality of the base oil directly affects the quality level of the compressor oil and finished oil, and the quality of the base oil is directly related to its refining depth. The base oil with deep refining depth has less heavy aromatic hydrocarbons and gum content. If the residual carbon is low, the sensitivity of antioxidants is good, and the quality of base oil is high. It tends to accumulate less carbon in the compressor system, has good oil-water separation, and has a relatively longer service life.
Synthetic base oil is a lubricating oil made by blending or adding various additives to organic liquid base oil obtained by chemical synthesis. Most of its base oils are polymers or high molecular weight organic compounds. Major oil companies around the world, such as CPI (Scipio) Mobil、shell、BP、Esso、Castrol、Caltex、Ethel、Tanneco、Amoco 、Dow Corning We have developed our own series of ester synthetic compressor oil products. Among them, CPI Engineering Company in the United States is the world's expert in compressor oil. Shanghai Pingyao Trading Co., Ltd. is the general agent of CPI synthetic lubricants in the Chinese market. There are many types of synthetic oils, and the synthetic oils used as compressor oil mainly include five types: synthetic hydrocarbons (poly - α - olefins), organic esters (diesters), polyalkylene glycols, fluorosilicone oils, and phosphate esters. The price of synthetic oil compressor oil is much higher than that of mineral oil compressor oil, but the comprehensive economic benefits of synthetic oil still exceed those of ordinary mineral oil. It has oxidation stability, low tendency to accumulate carbon, can lubricate beyond the temperature range of ordinary mineral oil, has a long service life, and can meet the usage requirements that general mineral oil compressor oil cannot withstand.
2. The base oil fraction of air compressor oil should be narrow
Research on the working conditions of compressor oil suggests that improving the composition of base oil is a key factor in improving the quality of compressor oil. After injecting compressor oil composed of light and heavy components into the compressor cylinder, the light components leave the working area prematurely due to strong volatility, affecting the lubrication effect, while the heavy components cannot leave the working area quickly after completing the work task due to poor volatility. Over time, they are prone to carbon deposition under the action of heat and oxygen. Therefore, in such operating conditions, narrow fraction component oils should be used as lubricating oil, and component oils mixed with multiple fractions should not be used.
Compressor oil No. 19 is made from a wide range of distillate oils containing a large amount of residual components, and the compressor accumulates a large amount of carbon during use. Therefore, to improve the quality of compressor oil, the residual components in No. 19 compressor oil should be removed and narrow fraction base oil should be selected.
3. The viscosity of air compressor oil should be suitable
Under the condition of dynamic lubrication, the thickness of the oil film increases with the viscosity of the oil, but the friction also increases with the viscosity of the oil. Lubricating oil with low viscosity is not easy to form a strong enough oil film, which will accelerate wear and shorten the service life of the components. On the contrary, if the viscosity of the lubricating oil is too high, it will increase the internal friction force, increase the specific power of the compressor, and thus increase power consumption and fuel consumption. It will also form deposits in the piston ring groove, valve, exhaust passage, and other places. Therefore, choosing the appropriate viscosity is the primary issue in correctly selecting compressor oil. Xi'an Jiaotong University has proven through experiments that using the same test conditions on the same type of compressor, using lower viscosity grades of oil can reduce the specific power of the compressor by up to 10% compared to using high viscosity grades of oil, while there is no significant difference in the amount of mechanical wear. Therefore, selecting the appropriate viscosity grade of oil while ensuring lubrication has a significant impact on energy conservation and the reliable operation of compressors.
