ADSS optical cables are installed on high-voltage transmission lines, with a general lifespan of over 25 years. There are many factors that affect their lifespan, including:
(1) Is there a significant gradient change in the high-voltage induced electric field near the tower? High voltage induced electric fields have strong electrical corrosion on optical cables. Generally, PE type is used for overhead power lines of 35KV and below, and AT type is used for lines of 110KV and above;
(2) For double circuit towers, due to power outages or line modifications in the first circuit, consideration should be given when selecting hanging points;
(3) When the line passes through a working area with salt spray and acid gas, chemical substances will corrode the outer sheath of the optical cable, damage its electrical protection sleeve, and be easily damaged by electric arcs
The construction of ADSS optical cables is usually carried out on live line towers, and insulated endless ropes, insulated safety belts, insulated tools must be used during construction. The wind force should not exceed level 5, and a safe distance must be maintained from lines of different voltage levels, namely 35KV greater than 1.0m, 110KV greater than 1.5m, and 220KV greater than 3.0m
