      Development Status of OPPC

      Optical Phase Conductor (OPPC), also known as OPGW and ADSS, has outstanding advantages in fully utilizing the rich tower and routing resources of the power system.       OPPC technology has already been applied abroad (in Europe), with a high operating voltage level of 420kV and good operating conditions. The basic operation in China is on 35kV and 10kV lines.       Compared with OPGW, OPPC is safe and reliable, equivalent to normal line phase lines, and there are no incidents of lightning strikes causing broken wires.

      OPGW serves as both a ground wire and a communication device in high-voltage power lines, but lightning strikes are inevitable and seriously affect communication and scheduling, posing a threat to power grid safety.

      At present, there is no effective ice melting method for OPGW and ground wire in power lines. Using OPPC can greatly improve the line's ability to resist ice disasters.
