The CB type clutch is composed of chloroprene rubber and pneumatic tires with added fiber ropes. The pneumatic tire is bonded to the outer steel wheel rim. There are holes drilled on the wheel rim for installation onto the drive components (or mounting brackets if used as a brake application). The friction plate component is attached to the inner diameter of the pneumatic tire with a pin, and then fixed with a chain. When air pressure is applied to the pneumatic tire, the tire will expand, forcing the friction plate assembly to evenly grip the friction wheel hub (mounted on the driving element). The CB type clutch is fully self-adjusting and can automatically compensate for the wear of friction materials and wheel hubs without lubrication. The torque depends on the speed and applied air pressure. By limiting the applied air pressure, the clutch can act as a torque limiting device and provide overload protection.
