Since the beginning of the 21st century, environmental protection has received increasing attention from countries around the world. From multiple perspectives such as reducing environmental pollution, energy conservation, and emission reduction, the cold recycling technology of waste asphalt mixtures has gradually gained the attention and concern of experts and scholars.
a、 The on-site cold recycling technology of waste asphalt mixture is generally divided into two types: on-site cold recycling of asphalt layer and full depth on-site cold recycling. It is a process that does not require heating or other processes, only adding some new aggregates and rejuvenators to re pave the original pavement material. Due to the absence of transporting waste asphalt mixture, a significant amount of transportation costs have also been saved. This technology is generally applicable to first, second, and third grade asphalt pavements.
The construction process of this technology is as follows: first, a high-power road milling and mixing machine is used to directly mill and crush the road surface. Then, the rejuvenator and aggregate are fully and evenly mixed with the crushed waste asphalt mixture. After compaction by a roller, a wear layer is laid on the newly formed asphalt road surface, and finally a new asphalt surface layer that meets the design bearing capacity requirements is formed. Using traditional road maintenance methods, the amount of asphalt pavement waste is enormous, causing pollution to the environment. The large-scale mining of new materials can also lead to resource depletion and environmental damage. Adopting on-site cold regeneration technology can avoid the above-mentioned problems. It not only saves a lot of investment, but also benefits environmental protection, so it is called "green" construction technology.
b、 The cold recycling technology for waste asphalt mixture in the factory is a technique that crushes and screens the recycled waste asphalt mixture, and conducts corresponding analysis of the performance of the old asphalt and the chicken embryo of the old material. Based on the analysis results of the old asphalt components and the screening results of the old mineral material, a certain amount of rejuvenator, new aggregate, etc. are added and mixed at room temperature in a certain proportion. Then, these new mixtures that meet various indicators are transported to the site and spread according to the construction process of normal temperature asphalt concrete to form a road surface that meets the requirements of the specifications. This technology is generally applied to the asphalt pavement surface of Class III and fourth-class highway. It can also be applied to the construction of the base and sub base of highways.
The factory mixed cold recycling technology has been applied in the road reconstruction of Changjiu Expressway. After 11 months of observation, the following conclusions have been drawn:
1. The base pavement paved with factory mixed cold recycling technology has good ability to reflect cracks;
2. Cold recycled emulsified asphalt (asphalt and asphalt emulsifiers exhibit liquid asphalt under certain processes) can have a solid content of 60% -65%;
3. In the actual construction process, attention should be paid to health preservation. When the moisture in the emulsified asphalt evaporates, the total moisture content of the mixture should be less than 2% as the evaluation criterion for the end of health preservation.
In the factory mixing and recycling test of the old asphalt mixture on Shenshan Highway, it was pointed out that:
1. The high-temperature stability of factory mixed cold recycled asphalt mixture is good, which can meet the technical requirements of low-grade highway pavement.
2. Adding an appropriate amount of cement can significantly improve the low-temperature crack resistance and water stability of recycled mixtures. And during the actual test road construction process, it was found that when the mixing ratio of new and old materials was 1:4 and 1:5, the mixture was not evenly mixed, and the road surface was very rough and prone to segregation; When the mixing ratio is 1:6 and 1:7, the road surface is dense and rough, and the construction effect is better; When no new materials are added, the road surface density is good, the roughness is slightly poor, and the effect is average.
The factory mixed cold recycling technology of waste asphalt mixture has the advantages of green environmental protection, material saving, and simplified construction process, as it does not require excavation, landfilling, or other treatment of the original pavement base, and does not have problems such as the disposal and stacking of old road materials. Therefore, it has broad prospects for promotion and application.
