Description :
Square tube is a lightweight thin-walled steel pipe with a hollow square cross-section, also known as a cold-formed steel profile. It is a square section steel with dimensions made by cold bending Q235 hot-rolled or cold-rolled strip or coil as the base material, and then high-frequency welding. This series of square tubes covers specifications from 48 * 48mm to 140 * 140mm and is widely used in fields such as building curtain walls, steel structure factories, machinery manufacturing, and container manufacturing. It mainly solves problems such as structural support, frame construction, and load-bearing connections, and has good mechanical and welding properties.
This batch of square tubes has high dimensional accuracy, with allowable side length deviation controlled within ± 0.5mm, uniform wall thickness, and a smooth surface without defects such as cracks or folds. The material usually complies with the standards of GB/T 3094-2012 "Cold drawn profiled steel pipes" or GB/T 6728-2017 "Cold formed hollow section steel for structural use". The common materials are Q235B or Q355B, with yield strengths not less than 235MPa and 355MPa, respectively. The production process includes hot rolling, cold drawing, or high-frequency welding to ensure that the internal structure of the pipe is dense, with strong compressive and torsional resistance, suitable for structural applications under various complex working conditions.
When selecting, specific specifications should be determined based on actual load-bearing requirements and installation space. 48 * 48mm to 80 * 80mm specifications are commonly used for lightweight brackets, guardrails, and decorative structures; Large specification square tubes of 100 * 100mm and above are more suitable for high-strength scenarios such as heavy-duty steel structure beams and columns, and large mechanical equipment bases. If higher corrosion resistance is required, it is recommended to choose square pipes treated with hot-dip galvanizing instead of ordinary black materials. Pay attention to distinguishing between seamless square tubes and welded square tubes. The former has a higher cost but stronger pressure bearing capacity, while the latter has a higher cost-effectiveness and is suitable for general structural applications.
During transportation and stacking, square tubes should avoid severe collisions to prevent deformation or surface scratches. On site cutting can be done using a grinding wheel cutting machine or laser cutting. Before welding, the oil and rust stains at the cutting edge need to be cleaned to ensure the quality of the weld seam. For long-term outdoor use, it is recommended to regularly perform anti-corrosion maintenance, such as applying anti rust paint or checking the integrity of the galvanized layer. If local rust or deformation is found, the damaged section should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid affecting the overall structural stability. In daily use, overloading should be avoided to ensure structural safety.
