Description :
Galvanized steel sheet is a protective steel material coated with a layer of metallic zinc on the surface of cold-rolled steel sheet, mainly to solve the corrosion problem of steel materials in harsh environments such as humidity and acidity. Through the sacrificial anode protection effect of the zinc layer, the service life of the substrate is effectively extended, and it is widely used in fields such as construction, household appliance casings, automobile manufacturing, and ventilation ducts. This category combines the mechanical strength of steel plates with the corrosion resistance of zinc coatings, making it an indispensable basic raw material in industrial manufacturing. It is suitable for various working conditions with clear requirements for surface quality and corrosion resistance life.
The thickness range of conventional galvanized sheet is usually between 0.12mm and 4.0mm, and the width is commonly 1000mm, 1219mm, or 1250mm. It can be divided or cut according to the needs. The weight of the zinc layer varies according to different standards, with a common specification of Z60-Z275g/m ². Surface treatment methods include chromium free passivation, oil coating, or fingerprint resistant treatment to enhance storage stability. The execution standards are mostly based on GB/T 2518 or ASTM A653 to ensure that the adhesion, bending performance, and impact toughness of the zinc layer comply with national standards. The material substrate is mostly DX51D+Z or DC01+Z, ensuring good molding and processing performance.
When selecting, special attention should be paid to the matching between the thickness of the zinc layer and the strength of the substrate. High zinc layers are suitable for outdoor exposed environments such as roofs and walls, while low zinc layers are mostly used for indoor appliance lining. If deep stamping is required, a deep drawing grade substrate with better ductility should be selected; If structural support is emphasized, high-strength steel based galvanized sheet should be selected. Compared with ordinary cold-rolled sheets, galvanized sheets can prevent rust without additional coating, but the issue of zinc layer volatilization needs to be addressed during welding; Compared with stainless steel, it has lower cost but slightly weaker resistance to extreme corrosion, which needs to be balanced based on specific budget and environmental corrosiveness.
During the installation and processing process, it is recommended to avoid severe scratching of the zinc layer. It is suggested to apply zinc rich paint to the cut surface to prevent rusting of the incision. When storing, it should be kept dry and ventilated to avoid long-term outdoor storage that may cause white rust. It is recommended to place sleepers underneath and cover with waterproof cloth. Daily maintenance only requires regular cleaning of surface dust and pollutants. If local zinc layer damage is found, it should be repaired in a timely manner to prevent further oxidation of the substrate. Common faults include bumps and deformations during transportation, as well as red rust caused by improper storage. It is necessary to standardize handling operations and regularly check inventory status to ensure stable material performance.
