Description :
Teflon coating is a high-performance anti-corrosion coating material mainly composed of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), designed to solve the corrosion, wear, and high-temperature aging problems of metal and non-metal surfaces under extreme working conditions. This coating effectively isolates acid, alkali, salt spray, and chemical media by forming a dense protective film, significantly extending the service life of the substrate. Typical operating conditions include the inner walls of chemical pipelines, reactor liners, high-temperature oven components, and mechanical sliding surfaces. Its core advantages lie in extremely low friction coefficient and excellent non adhesiveness, as well as a wide range of operating temperatures, making it suitable for industrial equipment protection that requires long-term stable operation. It is an ideal choice to replace traditional painting and galvanizing processes.
The PTFE coating typically consists of a multi-layer coating system consisting of primer, intermediate coat, and topcoat, with a dry film thickness generally controlled between 25-75 microns, depending on the anti-corrosion grade requirements. The coating has strong adhesion and can reach the 0-1 level standard according to the scratch test, with excellent impact resistance. Refer to HG/T 3792-2014 "Cross linked Fluororesin Coatings" or ASTM D4585 for relevant testing specifications. The conventional curing conditions are room temperature drying or high-temperature sintering, with the sintering temperature usually in the range of 300-400 degrees Celsius, to ensure that the coating is completely melted, leveled, and forms a crystalline structure. The product has passed the neutral salt spray test for more than 1000 hours without corrosion, and its temperature resistance performance can continue to work at temperatures up to 260 ℃. It can withstand higher temperatures for a short period of time and meets the requirements of RoHS environmental certification, with no heavy metal residue.
When selecting, it is necessary to specify the substrate type (such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy) and the specific contact medium (acid, alkali, solvent type). For highly corrosive environments, it is recommended to use a three coat coating system to enhance shielding effectiveness; If only anti sticking or anti friction is needed, a single layer of topcoat can meet the requirements. It should be noted that PTFE coatings are not suitable for scenarios that can withstand extremely high mechanical impacts or sharp object scratches. In such cases, ceramic filled modified varieties should be considered. Compared with ordinary epoxy coatings, PTFE coatings have better temperature resistance and outstanding non stick properties, but require higher surface treatment during construction, requiring sandblasting to Sa2.5 level. Before procurement, it should be confirmed whether the construction conditions have the ability to sinter at high temperatures. If there are no baking conditions, a cold spray curing formula should be selected.
Before construction, the substrate must undergo strict degreasing, rust removal, and sandblasting roughening treatment. The surface roughness should be controlled at Ra3.0-6.0 microns to ensure the mechanical adhesion of the coating. After spraying, it is necessary to heat up and cure according to the process curve to avoid rapid heating that may cause blistering or cracking of the coating. In daily maintenance, although Teflon coating has self-cleaning properties, it is still recommended to regularly wipe surface residues with a soft cloth to avoid scratching the coating with hard objects. Common faults such as local peeling are often caused by incomplete pre-treatment or insufficient curing temperature. When repairing, the edges need to be polished and re sprayed for curing. When stored, it should be placed in a cool and dry place. The shelf life is usually 12 months. After opening, it should be sealed and stored to prevent solvent evaporation from affecting the construction viscosity.
