Sumitomo Chemical in Japan also introduced technology from Carborundum in the early years, and after years of research and development, developed some of its own characteristics, such as adding some isophthalic acid structures to polymer chains.
Sumitomo Chemical began producing LCP materials under the Ekonol brand in 1986, and in 2001, produced LCP materials under the Sumikassuper brand (mainly sold domestically in Japan). Currently, only the Sumikassuper series LCP is seen in the product.
In 1976, Jackson WJ Jr from Eatman Kadak and Kuhfns HF reacted para hydroxybenzoic acid (HBA) and PET in a molten state to obtain LCP with a composition of 60/40 HBA/PET.
Eatman Kodak began producing products under the X-7G brand in 1986, with a heat distortion temperature (HDT) of 170 ℃, belonging to type III LCP.
But with Eatman Kadak reducing the size of its LCP department, X-7G branded products are now produced by Nippon Petrochemical Corporation.
Unitika in Japan introduced the technology of Eatman Kadak in its early years and improved its production process. In 1989, it began producing LCP under the Rodrun brand.
