PEI features:
Electrical performance:
Outstanding electrical performance; Stable dielectric constant (as low as 3.15), dielectric loss, and extremely high dielectric strength over a wide frequency and temperature range; Electrical insulation;
Chemical resistance:
PEI is hardly corroded by all aliphatic hydrocarbons and has good durability against nitric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, etc. However, PEI has poor tolerance to alkaline solvents.
Because of this, PEI changes color after anodizing and is used as a secondary material for IP4 two-color partition strips by Fruit Company. However, due to its poor alkali resistance, it is replaced by PPSU after IP5 (its impact resistance is not particularly good, and alkaline solution also reduces its impact resistance).
It has excellent water resistance and boiling water decomposition resistance, and can maintain a tensile strength of 85% even after 1000 hours in boiling water. Soaking in gasoline at room temperature for 96 hours did not show any abnormalities, but it can dissolve in solvents such as toluene, trichloroethylene, and amine hydroxide at 150 ℃, with poor alkali resistance.
