The polyurethane piston assembly is a core vulnerable component in the oil drilling mud pump system, mainly used to achieve high-pressure sealing and reciprocating motion conversion at the hydraulic end. This product solves the problem of short service life and easy leakage of traditional rubber seals under high pressure and high wear conditions by combining polymer polyurethane material with metal skeleton. Typical operating conditions include oil drilling, shale gas extraction, and non excavation horizontal directional drilling, which require continuous transportation of high viscosity, granular media. As a key component of mud pumps, its performance directly determines the stability and maintenance cycle of pump efficiency, and is suitable for hydraulic end replacement of various three cylinder single acting or five cylinder single acting plunger pumps/piston pumps.
The polyurethane piston assembly is made of imported or domestically produced high-quality polyester/polyether polyurethane elastomers as raw materials, and the hardness is usually controlled between Shore A 90-95 degrees to balance wear resistance and tear strength. In terms of manufacturing process, high-temperature vulcanization molding is commonly used to ensure that the bonding force between the polyurethane layer and the metal core shaft is greater than 10MPa, preventing delamination under high pressure. According to industry standards such as API Spec 7K or SY/T 5053.2, the surface finish should reach Ra0.8 or above, reducing the friction coefficient with the cylinder liner. Common specifications cover various sizes ranging from 3 inches to 7 inches in diameter, with a temperature tolerance range of -30 ℃ to+80 ℃, and can withstand up to 40MPa of instantaneous impact pressure, ensuring dimensional stability and sealing reliability in harsh downhole environments.
When selecting, it is necessary to strictly check the pump type series (such as F series, 3NB series, BW series, etc.), piston rod diameter, and installation groove size of the original mud pump. This product has strong adaptability and can cover mainstream oilfield pump types, but there may be slight differences in the sealing groove structure of different brands of pump bodies. It is recommended to measure the outer diameter, inner diameter, and total length of the old parts and compare them before purchasing. Before installing the polyurethane piston assembly, the inner wall of the cylinder liner and piston rod must be thoroughly cleaned, and the cylinder liner must be checked for any scratches or excessive ellipticity to prevent rapid wear after installation of new parts. Special guide sleeves or lubricating grease should be used during installation. It is strictly prohibited to use a hammer to strike directly to prevent the edges of the polyurethane from rolling or cutting. In daily maintenance, the discharge pressure fluctuation and leakage of the mud pump should be regularly monitored.
