Roller chain is a widely used standard basic component in mechanical transmission systems, mainly used for transmitting power and motion between two parallel axes. This roller chain usually consists of five parts: inner chain plate, outer chain plate, pin shaft, sleeve, and roller. The execution standards generally comply with GB/T1243 or ISO606 international standards, and common specifications include A series and B series, with pitch ranging from 6.35mm to 100mm. When selecting, special consideration should be given to transmission power, speed, center distance, and working environment. For high-speed light load situations, it is advisable to use small pitch multi row chains to reduce dynamic loads; For low-speed heavy loads, it is recommended to use large pitch single row or multi row chains. If there is corrosion or high temperature in the environment, stainless steel material or specially coated roller chains should be selected. Compared with ordinary belt drives, roller chains have no elastic sliding, but require regular lubrication and higher requirements for installation parallelism. They are not suitable for precision instrument drives that require precise synchronization and strictly prohibit backlash.
When installing roller chains, it is necessary to ensure that the axes of the two sprockets are parallel and the tension is moderate. Over tightening will increase wear and power consumption, while over loosening can easily cause tooth skipping or chain detachment. In daily maintenance, regularly check the elongation of the chain, and replace it promptly when the elongation exceeds 3% to avoid damaging the sprocket. Lubrication is the key to extending lifespan. It is recommended to choose the appropriate lubricating oil or grease according to the working conditions, and regularly clean the attached dust and impurities. Common faults include chain plate breakage, excessive wear of the pin shaft, and roller jamming, which are often caused by poor lubrication or overload, and need to be promptly investigated and adjusted.
