The production of oily sludge (oil sludge sand): Oily sludge is a solid waste containing oil generated during the processes of oil extraction, transportation, refining, and oily wastewater treatment. It is one of the main sources of pollution in the production process of oilfield enterprises, with a wide variety of types and complex properties. The sludge generated during the crude oil extraction process mainly comes from the surface treatment system, the oily sludge generated during the oil production wastewater treatment process, and the flocs formed by the water purification agent added in the wastewater purification treatment, equipment and pipeline corrosion products and scale, bacteria (corpses), etc., which constitute the sludge. When oil storage tanks in petrochemical enterprises store oil products, small amounts of mechanical impurities, sand particles, soil, heavy metal salts, as well as heavy oil components such as paraffin and asphaltene, deposit at the bottom of the oil tank, forming tank bottom sludge.
The hazards of oily sludge (oil sludge sand): Oily sludge contains a large amount of toxic substances such as benzene, phenols, anthracene, pyrene, etc., which have a foul odor. If oily sludge is not treated, it will seriously pollute the soil and environment. On the other hand, if the oily sludge in the sludge is not collected in a timely manner, it will cause waste of resources. Sludge generally has an oil content of 10-50% and a water content of 10-60%. Oily sludge contains abundant crude oil. If crude oil is separated and extracted from it, with a water content of less than 4%, it meets the standards for crude oil recovery and can be recycled by crude oil recovery plants and refineries, achieving economic value.
Current status of oily sludge (oil sludge sand) treatment: Oily sludge is generally composed of a stable suspension emulsion system consisting of water in oil (o/w), oil in water (w/o), and suspended solids. The dewatering effect is poor, and the composition and physical properties of the sludge are affected by factors such as sewage quality, treatment process, and dosing agents. Due to the large differences in oil sludge and oil content, the situation of each unit is not uniform, making it difficult to develop standardized equipment and difficult to handle.
